Summer camps can be a fantastic way to increase your revenue and re-build student rapport. You just need the right formula for setting up your summer camps so they run with minimum supervision from you – the studio owner.

Here are my top 5 tips for running super successful (and simple!) summer camps.

1. Get your team up to scratch

You are only as strong as your team so make sure you have developed a system that’s repeatable. This means you have a plan that can be executed by any of your staff members with everything they need to run the camp without your supervision. We can help with our Super Simple Summer Camps program.

2. Choose a theme

One of the biggest mistakes I see studio owners make is running a summer camp or holiday program with no theme in mind. It could be anything – Frozen, Beach Party, Summer in the Sun, Winter Wonderland, Spring Fitness Frenzy – and have a goal in mind for the end of the program. It will help you stay focussed, keep your team working towards the goal and it will keep your students engaged.

3. Plan, plan, plan

The first time you run the program will be the most work but if you do it well, you can repeat it again and again. If you plan out your program efficiently the first time, it’s a set forget situation. From then on,  you can get your team to run the program for you. For step by step guidance on planning your summer camps, check out our Super Simple Summer Camps program here.

4. Get the word out

Tell everyone! Send home flyers with your current students, offer a 20% discount for new students to the studio. Advertise on Facebook, send out emails, put it on public notice boards. Don’t be shy! And make sure you give plenty of notice. Summer and holidays require planning for everyone.

5. Keep up momentum

When your summer camp or holiday program ends, don’t lose momentum. Offer follow on classes that lead through to your next term intake. Offer bring-a-friend incentives or discounts for long term summer campers. Nurture your new students into becoming long term students. Don’t waste the magic of summer camps!
